DSMZ Cell Culture Data:
 

Morphology: fibroblast-like adherent cells growing in clumps​​​​​​​
Medium: 90% RPMI 1640 + 10% h.i. FBS​​​​​​​
Subculture: seed out at ca. 3*10⁶ cells/80 cm²; split confluent culture 1:5 to 1:10 every 2-3 days; cells can be detached by pipetting with PBS or by mild treatment with trypsin/EDTA; after splitting, it is recommended to seed out the cells in fresh culture flasks as possibly the cells may not attach any longer in the old vessels​​​​​​​
Incubation: at 37 °C with 5% CO₂
Doubling time: ca. 16-20 hours​​​​​​​
Harvest: cell harvest of ca. 25*10⁶ cells/80 cm²
Storage: frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO

Mycoplasma: negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization, PCR assays
Authenticity: STR analysis according to the global standard ANSI/ATCC ASN-0002.1-2021 (2021) resulted in an authentic STR profile of the reference STR database.​​​​​​​
Species validation: Species-level identification was carried out by mitochondrial Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit 1 (COI) DNA barcoding according standard ANSI/ATCC ASN-0003-2015 and revealed Cricetulus griseus species.
